A Note From Annie: Why I Choose to Teach the Let Animals Lead® Method if Animal Reiki

One of my favorite aspects of the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki is that it nurtures my spiritual practice through traditional meditation techniques, but it also includes and supports the animals that I love so dearly.

By creating a foundation of daily relationship with Reiki, I am able to  lean into my practice when we hit a rough patch, such as an injury, illness or an emergency. In those times, Reiki has supported me and animal companions through remaining present and clear to address situations with loving-kindness, even when we are all scared. It really is a blessing to remain at center and tend to commission fatigue through this simple gift of Reiki.

I began my personal Reiki studies by learning about traditional Reiki for humans and was intrigued. A serendipitous Google search led me to Kathleen Prasad's book, Heart to Heart with Horses. I was excited to try this new approach of sharing Reiki Love with my horses. Seeing results almost immediately, I enrolled in her Level One course. I was hooked. I loved everything about the content, the practice, the teacher, the community and be practitioner I was becoming.

I decided to dedicate my Reiki practice into weaving many parts of my world together - spirituality, nature, animals and teaching into one offering. I truly believe that we can create a more peaceful world if we devote more time to serving and caring for others and breathing peace into our days.

It is very empowering for animal care-takers of any kind to be able to create healing spaces for themselves and the surrounding critters.  It is great to be able to call a practitioner in for help, but if you are the one doing the daily work of loving, cleaning, feeding, tending to the grit and grime, why not make that experience as calm and joyful as possible for you and the animals?

The Let Animals Lead® Method is a beautiful pathway to bring the energy of mindful presence, comfort & joy into your life and the lives of your animal companions.

I am so glad you are here and look forward to supporting your journey.

Shine On,

Annie

Teaching Style

With a professional background as a public school librarian for over 16 years, Annie has taught learners from age three  to 70.  She has taught Reiki certification courses for people and animals as well as countless yoga classes and workshops for adults through a community college as well as a recovery facility. She brings experience of working with a diverse group of learners, both in-person and in virtual spaces, tailoring each class to the students in the room, making sure everyone is comfortable, relaxed and has space to share their unique perspectives respectfully.

Background & Student of Traditional Japanese Reiki

Annie is an active student and practitioner of Traditional Japanese Reiki, which enriches her teachings and practices in the Let Animals Lead® Method of Animal Reiki.

Love on A Leash

Annie is a regular dog walker and two-time foster lady at Humane Society of Carroll County and enjoys every minute! She uses her Reiki practice to navigate the stressors that come with spending time in a shelter environment and to offer each pup a "Love on a Leash" Reiki walk  or playtime in the yard. The more time you study and practice Animal Reiki, the easier it becomes to embed Reiki as a way of being into your every day actions. Meditation is not only about sitting quietly, but carrying the compassion we generate through mediation out into the world.

Certificates are just the beginning...

Annie is a firm believer that earning your certificate is only the beginning.  She continues to study not just Let Animals Lead® Method of  Reiki through Mighty Networks, a special community for LAL Level One and higher students, but by attending Reiki gatherings from prominent teachers from around the world. She also finds great support through many great Reiki books - ask her for recommendations - she is a librarian, after all!

Life at Knucklehead Creek & Beyond

Annie lives on a small farm with her family, horses, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, guinea pigs and honey bees. She practices Animal Reiki daily for self-care and to support her many animal friends and surrounding  wildlife.

From daily mucking, tending to injuries and creating rituals for wildlife that have transitioned back to a life of spirit,  Animal Reiki has been a tremendous support.  When chaos burst through the door, Reiki brings peace and stability, a welcome comfort when navigating the more difficult aspects of caring for animals.  This practice also cultivates joy and gratitude, welcoming us to pause and appreciate the many blessings that are constantly present around us.  It is a true gift.

Shelter Animal Reiki Association

Annie is a practitioner member of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA), a worldwide grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of shelter animals and their caregivers through the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki meditation techniques. These techniques create a happy, more relaxed experience in the shelter for animals and their caregivers.
